The Stowaway by Jade Archer with a Contest!

The Stowaway – by Jade Archer

Blurb :

Book One of the Journey of the Wyvern Series

Can one small stowaway teach two hardened warriors a lesson in life and love?

Arek and Devlynn were once part of one of the most vicious gangs of space pirates in the galaxy—the Fennrus Group. But when Arek’s little brother was killed trying to follow in his footsteps, Arek quit. He walked away. And Devlynn went with him - having been devoted to the man since they were children. Unfortunately, no one leaves the Fennrus Group. Not and lives to tell the tale anyway. Forced to lay low if they are to survive, Arek and Devlynn find themselves doing supply runs between the most isolated agricultural communities in the galaxy just to scrape by. Which is how they end up with one small, feisty stowaway.

Having recently turned twenty-three, Rachel is facing what she considers the ultimate enslavement—arranged marriage to two brothers from the neighbouring farming settlement of Thebia 3. So when she sees an opportunity to escape while waiting for her intended grooms at the local space port she seizes it with both hands. She wants freedom, adventure, the chance to visit every star in the night sky. What she gets is two stubborn, difficult, although admittedly gorgeous, ex-pirates with a temperamental space transport, a vicious past out to get them and little to no idea what to do with the feelings that simmer below the surface between them all.

Life with Arek and Devlynn is certain to be an adventure, provided they all survive long enough to enjoy it and Rachel can work a little magic that is.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of MF, MM and MMF sex and intimacy.

Excerpt :

Rachel dug her fingernails into her palms and tried to contain the rage building inside as her mother, sisters and various other female relatives continued to fuss over her. Primping and curling her hair, painting her nails and smoothing out the lines of her bonding dress. It was all slowly but surely pushing her over the edge—eating away at the last tattered threads of her control until she wanted to scream.

The need to shout, “Back off! You’re suffocating me!” bubbled up in her throat, but she ruthlessly swallowed it down. It wasn’t as if it would make a difference anyway. Her kinswomen were on a mission—they weren’t going to be put off by a minor thing like Rachel not being able to breathe.

Her stomach twisting in angry, frustrated knots, Rachel turned her head to stare out of the cramped private waiting room’s single observation window. But even the sight of the bustling spaceport couldn’t distract her today. Normally, on those rare occasions she got to come to town with her family, she was glued to the viewports that overlooked the main dock. She loved watching the dazzling array of space-going vessels coming and going. The strangers in their bright, alien clothes heading out for distant star systems. The dock workers hurrying about preparing the ships for their journeys. She even enjoyed watching the other Thebia 5 farmers going about their business—trying to imagine how visitors to their world might see them. It was fascinating.

But none of it could divert her today. Today—possibly the worst day of her twenty-three-solar-year existence—completely stifled her usual interest. She had too many other things on her mind.

The whole situation was just so infuriating. How could her family think this was a good idea? That it was perfectly all right to bond her off to a pair of brothers from Thebia 3 she’d never even met. Hell, she hadn’t even had an opportunity to speak to them yet.

It was traditional in their sparsely populated solar system. A way of matching hard-working farmers with appropriate mates that could tend house and produce off-spring where there were thousands of clicks of solgram fields and not much else. But she felt like an object. A thing. A marionette being manipulated and hoisted into position.

A brightly painted, very false and unwilling marionette—done up to be something she wasn’t. She didn’t want to be a blushing bond-mate. She didn’t want to be the essence of grace and fertility or whatever the hell the thousands of beads and hundreds of loops of goldilum thread on her gown were supposed to represent. She had absolutely no desire to bond and settle down to raising a family and continuing the cycle of Thebian life.

It wasn’t who she was. It wasn’t who she wanted to be.

A sharp tug at her waist finally snapped her control.

“Please, Mother. Just…stop.”

All things considered, she thought she sounded surprisingly reasonable—even if her voice was a little sharp for speaking to the house matriarch.

“Don’t be silly, dear. If we don’t get these tucks just right it’ll spoil the whole effect,” Mother Sorrtell replied, still pulling at the errant fabric.

“Do you really think they’ll care? Or even notice? They’re men, Mother.”

“Of course they’ll notice. You’re going to be their bond-mate, the mother of their young. Besides, they’re not the ones we need to impress, my dear. It’s your new kinswomen you need to look your best for.”

Rachel fought hard against the urge to grind her teeth.

“I hardly think they’re going to care much, either, Mother. They’re more interested in how many loaves of bread I can produce in an hour or how fast I can mend a seam.”

“Time for all that later. We’re talking about first impressions here, Rachel. Very important.”

“Oh, of course. Silly me.”

“Don’t be snippy,” Mother chided. “That tongue of yours is going to land you in a whole mess of trouble in your new home if you’re not careful, my girl. Don’t think the matriarch there is going to be as lenient as I am.”

Rachel took hold of her mother’s hand, stilling the restless fingers and finally getting her attention. With her mother’s eyes finally really seeing her, Rachel lifted the long red skirt of her bonding day dress, desperately trying one last time to make her mother understand.

“I don’t want this.”

Author’s Bio:

Jade was born in 2010 after a prolonged pregnancy and labour of over thirty-four years!

Yes, she is a pseudonym. A work of my fevered imagination, which never seems to grow tired of inventing new characters. And this one's a whopper. One that seems to have taken over my life to the point I'm no longer sure where she ends and I begin! Still, it seems to be working for us.

I’ve decided she’s about twenty-four. Enjoys long walks in the country, because she doesn’t have five kids and a husband to care for. Eats as much chocolate as she wants, because she never has to worry about putting on weight (must be all those long walks!). And can often be found planning her next whirl wind world tour or endlessly typing away (without any interruptions) on another hot and steamy erotic romance. It might be space pirates; it might be shifters or a lonely vampire with a thing for the girl next door, one thing’s for sure, she loves variety and can’t wait to meet the next characters destined to fall in love.

Catching Mr. Right by Amber Kell

Catching Mr. Right

Coming August 8, 2011

Blurb:

Sometimes the perfect man is the one determined to give you away.

Tucker Right has loved Norman Wells since the first day they met, but the mercenary believes the beautiful scientist needs a gentler soul to care for him.

Determined to find his friend the perfect man, Tucker is astonished to learn Norm has no intention of being set up.

When the mob targets Norm for his scientific breakthroughs Tucker has to step up and claim the man who had every intention of Catching Mr Right.

Excerpt:

Tucker Right was a touchy person—he pounded men on the back, kissed women on the cheek and gave the occasional shoulder-grip to people he was fond of. In fact, Norman Wells realised, as he tossed back his Scotch, Tucker touched everyone but him. In the five years they’d known each other he could easily count on one hand the number of times his best friend had done more than shake his hand, always after one of Norman’s breakups. Then he rated a hug, sometimes a kiss on the cheek.

Strange.

He held up a finger to the bartender. If he did this right he wouldn’t be able to see how many fingers he was lifting in a few minutes.

It was one of those days.

“You’re going to get snockered and I’ll have to pour you home,” a deep voice spoke beside him. Although Tucker’s breath brushed Norm’s ear, no part of them touched.

“What do you care? Go touch somebody else.” Watching the man he wanted paw everyone but him made his heart hurt. He threw back his head and let the Scotch burn its way down his throat.

“Now that’s just disrespectful, tossing back expensive liquor like that. I know it’s the expensive stuff because my bud doesn’t do cheap,” Tucker teased. Strong fingers cupped Norman’s chin, turning his head until he faced his friend. He held back the sigh that always wanted to escape his lips when he looked into those brilliant blue eyes. Eyes so light they were almost colourless. His assistant Becca called them serial killer eyes. Norm thought they were the most beautiful things in the universe.

He’s touching me.

The thought ricocheted through his head like a pinball marble.

“What’s wrong, Norm? Len being an asshole?” The sympathy in his friend’s voice was almost his undoing, but he knew he could keep it together—he just needed more alcohol in his system.

“Len’s gone. We broke up last week,” he confessed.

“Why?” A crease formed on Tucker’s tanned brow. “I thought you guys were good together.”

Norm couldn’t explain how he’d felt trapped in the relationship, unable to breathe.

“Why is it a beautiful man like yourself can’t keep a guy?” Tucker asked, musingly. “You’re rich, more gorgeous than most of the people on the planet, and beneath your crusty exterior is the heart of a sweet man. Why are you always looking for your next boyfriend?”

“Apparently because I’m emotionally unavailable.” Bitterness filled him as he remembered the conversation with his ex-boyfriend.

“Seriously?” Tucker released Norman’s chin and slid his hair behind his ear in an affectionate gesture. The contact made Norm shiver. “That’s what you get for dating a psychiatrist.”

When had he become touch-worthy? With effort he forced himself to continue the conversation and not sit there sighing like a teenage girl with her first crush.

“I thought you said he was perfect for me?”

“I thought he’d help you with your people issues, not add to them.” Tucker’s sexy mouth turned down and his voice held an angry edge. “If I knew he was going to make you feel like crap I would’ve gotten rid of him.”

“Things like that are why my assistant thinks you’re a hit man.”

Between Tucker’s muscular six-foot-three body and his arctic blue eyes, no one messed with him. Tucker owned a security company taking care of the electronic surveillance and personal protection for high-profile clients and visiting dignitaries. Whispered rumours claimed he used to be part of the CIA. Norm never had the guts to ask. The two met when Norm had needed help uncovering a security breach in his nano-technology lab. Tucker had set up his security and helped catch the thief, saving Norm’s millions of dollars of research in the process.

He held up his hand to the bartender for another round. Tucker caught his wrist. “He’s had enough,” he told the bartender.

The man nodded as he slipped a piece of paper across the bar towards Norm. “Call me if you ever want to go out sometime.” The bartender gave him a wide smile and a wink before going back to the other side of the bar.

“It’s definitely time to take you home before the bartender does.” Tucker wrapped an arm around Norman as he melted off his bar stool.

“He’s kind of cute.”

“He’s not good enough for you,” he thought her heard Tucker mutter as his larger friend supported him.

Three Mates One Destiny by Scarlet Hyacinth

SPIRIT WOLVES 4: THREE MATES, ONE DESTINY

http://www.bookstrand.com/three-mates-one-destiny

Blurb:

For seven years, Paulie focused only on finding a cure for the feral virus, with little time for personal relationships. All that changes when hunters Sebastian and Marcus come into his life. The attraction between them cannot be denied. They are his mates, but at the same time, they share a connection that humbles Paulie. He fears intruding in their relationship. He fears becoming the third wheel.

Sebastian and Marcus have always been together, facing everything from prejudice to feral attacks as one being. But now, they find themselves in front of the most difficult battle of their lives, the battle to win their mate's heart and trust.

As Sebastian and Marcus struggle to convince Paulie of their genuine affection, the danger of betrayal crowds around them. Can the three find their shared destiny or will their enemies defeat them?

Story Excerpt (861 words)

Marcus, Sebastian, and Andrew entered a room that looked like an examination area of sorts, while Valerius and Trent stopped in front of the door. The doctor indicated for them to place Ross on the bed. In swift, efficient motions, he put on surgical gloves and analyzed Ross’s wound. “How long ago did he receive the bite?” he asked in a neutral tone.

“We’re not sure. A few hours ago,” Sebastian replied.

“As far as we could tell, he’s a homeless boy,” Marcus added.

“Well, that explains it. The infection is spreading rapidly,” the doctor explained. “His immune system is weakened by lack of proper nutrition. Did he tell you his name?”

“Ross.”

“All right. We’ll begin treating him at once.”

As Andrew spoke, the feeling of need that never left burst through Sebastian once again. The door burst open and a young blond man rushed inside. “What’s going on, Dad? How is he?”

“Not so good,” Andrew replied. He glanced at Marcus and Sebastian. “Gentlemen, this is my son, Paul. He will be assisting me with the treatment of the patient. Now, I’m going to have to ask you to wait outside.”

The doctor’s words barely registered. Sebastian could only focus on Paul Blunt, his other mate. Marcus seemed just as flabbergasted.

For Paul’s part, the young man stared at them for a few moments, his beautiful blue eyes wide. Then, he looked away and turned all his attention to Ross. Andrew Blunt cleared his throat. “Gentlemen…”

Sebastian snapped out of his daze. “Right. We’ll be outside. Let us know of any change.”

Together with Marcus, Sebastian left the examination room. Trent and Valerius were in the same place, waiting at the door. There were soldiers stationed at each end of the corridor, but the distance allowed them some privacy.

Sebastian had never been close to the two men, especially Valerius who, as a Judiciary, went way beyond anything Sebastian could ever accomplish. But for whatever reason, they seemed more approachable now. “Drew and Paulie are excellent doctors,” Trent offered. “If anyone can help Ross, it’s them.”

Sebastian didn’t know what to say to that, so he just nodded and leaned against the wall. After a short silence, Valerius piped in. “I’m not sure you know this, but you two could have bitten him and it would’ve healed the virus.”

Sebastian blinked in confusion. How would their bite help?

“The three-way mate bond can heal anything,” Valerius finished.

Realization dawned, and heat flooded Sebastian’s face as he figured out he and Marcus must have been broadcasting their emotions all over the place. “It’s not like that,” he said weakly. “Ross is not our mate.”

Valerius frowned. “Oh? But Marcus and you are, right?” He shook his head and lifted his hand. “No, never mind. It’s none of my business.”

Sebastian shared a look with Marcus. Given that their mate was Andrew Blunt’s son, he’d also become Valerius and Trent’s child. Consequently, the situation involved them a lot. But Sebastian couldn’t tell them, not yet. He needed to have a chat with Marcus first.

Before he could flee, Valerius’s expression shifted, becoming unreadable, yet somehow ominous. “Wait… I know what I sensed. If the boy is not your mate, who is?”

Realization dawned and the other man seemed to get even more troubled. “Paulie,” Valerius and Trent said at the same time.

Sebastian didn’t have the heart to deny it, even if the two spirit wolves didn’t look too thrilled. He just nodded and waited to see what Valerius and Trent would say.

He might just be excessively apprehensive, but Sebastian wanted everything to work out with Paulie. Even a hundred years after he’d become Marcus’s mate, Harriet and Ezekiel Deacon still treated him like something they scraped off their shoes. They’d never accepted his union with their son. For this reason, Sebastian had chosen to keep everything a secret. At the same time, he knew Marcus suffered because of the way the Deacons acted with them. He didn’t want the story to repeat itself.

“Well, first, I’ll congratulate you,” Trent said, although his voice didn’t sound too gleeful.

“Thank you,” Marcus replied. “It’s really the last thing we expected to find when we came here.”

Valerius gave them both a serious look. “We won’t stand in your way, of course. But you must remember, he is very young. He’s had a few years to get used to life amidst spirit wolves, but I’m not sure he’s ready for a mating.”

Sebastian hated the insinuation that they’d do something to harm their human mate. Before he could offer a scathing reply, Marcus intervened. “We don’t plan to jump into anything. Besides, this conversation is quite inappropriate. We have to talk to him first. It’s what he wants that matters.”

Marcus was right. Paulie didn’t belong to their kind, so Sebastian couldn’t figure out how the young man would react to this news. For Sebastian’s part, he didn’t want to rush into things either. He’d spent so many years with Marcus that the other man had become almost like an extension of him. He didn’t know how a third would fit in.

Adult excerpt (829 words)

Sebastian pulled Paulie up and changed positions on the bed. Paulie ended up straddling Sebastian, with his back to Marcus, while Sebastian leaned against the head board and faced both his mates. Marcus grinned at him over Paulie’s shoulder. “Thank you, my dear Sebastian. So generous of you to share.”

From his angle, Sebastian couldn’t see everything his wolf mate did, at least not physically, but it didn’t matter. He saw it in his mind, through Marcus, and felt it through Paulie. Marcus’s hands traveled from Paulie’s shoulders over the young man’s back. Paulie shuddered, his pleasure and excitement reaching Sebastian as well.

Marcus’s clever fingers reached Paulie’s lower regions and caressed the upper edge of the human’s crease. The position didn’t allow for adequate access, so Paulie lowered his body over Sebastian’s. The new situation brought their faces close once more and exposed Paulie’s ass to Marcus’s ministrations.

Sebastian couldn’t stop himself. He pulled Paulie in for another kiss, distantly acknowledging Marcus’s chuckle. “I think I would be jealous if I didn’t have this all to myself.” As he spoke, he caressed Paulie’s ass, and the ghostly feel of skin contact made Sebastian groan into Paulie’s mouth.

Marcus’s skillful touches vanished, but returned moments afterward. A slick finger rubbed against Paulie’s hole. As the digit entered their human mate, Sebastian continued to kiss Paulie, needing more, wanting more. The indirect touch didn’t satisfy him. He hadn’t claimed Paulie, so the sensations and emotions came muted, not as powerful as they could be.

Marcus skillfully prepared Paulie then gripped the human’s hips and lifted him away with no effort at all. Sebastian noted Marcus had at some point removed his clothing and took advantage of the opportunity to strip as well. As he did so, Marcus kissed Paulie, the meeting of mouths slow and gentle, a promise to unleash the genuine passion Marcus hid behind his calm façade.

Paulie’s legs went around Marcus’s waist as they kissed. Sebastian watched with greedy eyes as his wolf mate’s cock nudged against Paulie’s naked ass.

Marcus broke the kiss and looked over Paulie’s shoulder. As always, they understood each other. Sebastian grinned at his mate. “Go ahead,” he growled. “Fuck him. You want that, don’t you, gorgeous? You want Marcus to fuck your ass.”

“Yes,” Paulie replied breathlessly, arching his back, a picture of wanton need. “God, yes. Please.”

Marcus positioned Paulie over his cock. “Gently now,” he whispered. “Don’t rush.”

Sebastian crawled at his mates’ sides, knowing the impetuousness of youth might push Paulie into hurting himself. “Lean on me.”

He helped Paulie push down against Marcus’s cock, holding the young human in check when Paulie would have impaled himself in one single motion. “Bastian,” Paulie cried, “please, let me…”

But Sebastian didn’t relent, and neither did Marcus. It took everything inside Sebastian to keep to the threads of his patience. He sensed the tight grip of Paulie’s ass around Marcus’s cock, and he knew he’d have never been able to hold back like his wolf mate did.

At last, Paulie was fully impaled on Marcus’s dick. Sebastian licked the sweat off Paulie’s shoulder and murmured, “Okay now. Ride him, gorgeous. At your own rhythm.”

He released Paulie and let him set the pace. Almost instantly, Paulie let loose. He was poetry in motion, sex and sin incarnate. His body accepted Marcus’s cock with little resistance, and the sight of it nearly made Sebastian come on the spot.

In a flash, Marcus flipped Paulie over on all fours, and thrust back inside. Paulie cried out, but he didn’t lose his balance. He looked up at Sebastian with lust-filled blue eyes. “Please…”

Sebastian didn’t need to be asked twice. His dick demanded release, preferably within one of his mates. Without hesitation, he rubbed his cock against Paulie’s lips, groaning as his human’s pink tongue came out to lick at the leaking tip. Sebastian allowed his mate to experiment for a few moments, but with each teasing lick, the need escalated even more.

But one thrust from Marcus made Paulie gasp and lose his focus. Marcus had allowed Paulie to get used to the new position, but with the renewed rhythm, Paulie proved to be unable to tease Sebastian further. He parted his lips, and Sebastian took the invitation. He pushed inside the wet cavern, threading his fingers through Paulie’s sweaty locks.

Sexual energy arched between them. As he fucked Paulie’s mouth, Sebastian felt like he’d died and gone to heaven. He simply let go, reveling in the way Paulie took him deep. With each of Marcus’s thrusts inside their mate, Paulie moaned, sending vibrations of ecstasy through Sebastian.

The rhythm between them became a symphony of carnal fulfillment. Together, they chased their orgasms. Sebastian was so close, and he could feel the pleasure soar inside his mates as well. He just needed one more thing to make the moment perfect.

His fangs descended, and he ached to sink them in Paulie’s flesh.

Hunting Henry by Amber Kell

Hunting Henry

Coming August 6, 2011

Blurb: Henry works as the pack cook, happily hiding from a painful past and suppressing his wolf side. Dakota is a wolf given a formula to become a human. What happens when a man who doesn't want to be a wolf bonds with a wolf who doesn't want to be a man.

Excerpt:

Henry Moon slid a pecan pie into the oven and closed the door. He knew his boss's mate, Anthony Carrow, would give him a pleased smile when the demigod got a look at the dessert for the night; it was his favorite. If the Alpha Mate worked late, well, Henry would send it by courier to his office. As the main cook at the pack house, Henry took his responsibilities seriously.

He had heard Silver Moon, the pack leader, telling Anthony to hire an assistant. Henry hoped the Alpha Mate listened. Silver might be the wolf Alpha, but Anthony could just as easily take someone down and do it with a charming smile. The demigod used his charisma to coax people to do things his way while Silver used the strength of his Alpha abilities to bend others to his will.

Henry rubbed his neck, pleased at the slight tingle. A few months ago, the Alpha Mate learned he could place a lightning bolt brand on pack members and call them in times of trouble. Last night, Henry had requested Anthony mark him. Anthony complied, knowing how much Henry needed to feel like he belonged with the Moon Pack. Now Henry felt like part of the family. Not the pack. If he could, Henry would leave his wolf part behind forever. Being a wolf had never brought him anything but scars and grief. However the Moon Pack was more than a group of wolves, they were a family who took care of each other and supported their community as a group. There would never be enough Henry could do to pay back the people who took him in when he was battered and broken.

Silver had saved him.

When the Moon Pack Alpha discovered Henry's former pack leader's abusive ways, Silver dismantled the entire pack and allowed Henry to kill the Alpha himself. For that act alone, Silver would always hold a special place in Henry's heart even if Henry felt more comfortable around Anthony.

In general, Henry stayed away from the others unless they needed something to eat. He wasn't a recluse, he mingled when they came to the kitchen, but he didn't go up to the club. Ever. The feel of hundreds of bodies surrounding him on all sides brought back memories better left in the past or during bedtime nightmares.

Anthony offered to find him a therapist who specialized in shifters, but Henry refused. He couldn't discuss his past, talking about his time in his old pack made the memories too real. He preferred them shoved into the farthest corner of his mind, even if they did occasionally escape and visit him in his dreams. Pushing things below the surface had to be all right sometimes. No one gave memory suppression the credit it deserved.

A knock at the back door pulled his mind away from his maudlin thoughts. Occasionally pack members came through the rear kitchen entrance to grab a snack and avoid the madness of the busy club. Not that he blamed them, but they didn't always pick a convenient time.

Sighing, Henry wiped off his hands before walking around the counter and pulling open the outside door. He half expected to see the big tiger, Dare, who came through the back entrance the most.

"I swear I'm going to get you a key for the kitchen," Henry grumbled good-naturedly. He could never stay mad at Dare. The big lunk had a kind nature and a ready smile for anyone who crossed his path, unlike Dare's cranky mate, Steven.

Swinging the door open, he froze.

There wasn't a tiger on his doorstep, but two men who were an odd study of contrasts. One man, tall with brown hair and black eyes, wore worn jeans and a t-shirt and smelled vaguely of bird. The second, smaller man reeked of wolf with his white hair, arctic blue eyes and blue scrubs.

The bird-scented man spoke first. "I'm Leif, a friend of Dare's. I found this wolf and didn't know where else to take him. I called Dare and he said to bring him here. Anthony and Silver are on their way. The guy says his name is Dakota."

Dakota looked so cold his skin almost overtook his eyes in its intensity of blueness.

"Come in." Henry was more than happy to let the sad-eyed creature into his kitchen. Although he would've let the poor shivering man in anyway, Henry let out a sigh of relief, glad he didn't have to worry about Silver's response to letting a strange wolf in his territory. "Have a seat. I'll get you something to eat."

Leif shook his head. "I can't stay. I just wanted to make sure Dakota was safe before I left. I've got an appointment."

"Oh, all right. I'll watch out for him." Henry couldn't very well toss the poor thing outside. Shivers racked the blond man's body as he stood in the heated kitchen.

Henry absently stroked the shaking wolf's head. He stopped when he realized his actions were not only too familiar, but that Dakota's head wasn't covered in hair, but fur. How was that even possible? Every shifter he'd ever known always shifted completely back to human. Sure, they could shift hands to claws if needed, but hair always converted back.

Henry took another sniff. The smaller man smelled of the rain outside, wolf, and an additional elusive scent Henry found overwhelmingly appealing.
